This book is known as the McMaster Carr catalog. I discovered it about fifteen years ago, while doing research and product development for an art transportation company. You can find it online, and it is almost as much fun as the paper copy! I use it weekly to solve technical problems of almost any nature. It is an education in itself, and I kid you not. They are the kind of people who sell 37 kinds of machine oil. But more importantly, they preface the section with a brief overview of viscosity, temperature, and materials compatibility. They are the kind of people who actually sell the self-lubricating plastics that made Matthew Barney a rock star of art (you can buy them too.) Oh, on top if this amazing book, I have clamped up a quickie prototype stool/bench. More on that later…. It is a fun little piece, good for sitting low while you chat with a toddler. More pics soon.
